POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for procuring standard and non-standard products for the company to support the distribution network of customers for diesel engines and diesel engine parts. Involves monitoring product specifications and product delivery. Reviews demand forecast system recommended buys with management and places timely and accurate purchase orders to ensure that inventory and service level expectations are met at optimal levels with planned stock orders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Expedite deliveries and obtains approval for alternative items required for emergency.
* Review and adjust incorrect invoices, shipping errors, replacement of materials not meeting
company specifications, cancellation of orders, and engineering changes.
* Coordinate with internal departments to insure maximization of freight savings and to ensure
needed materials arrive on a timely basis.
* Compile information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of materials; insure
prompt placement of assigned orders in accordance with established policy.
* Responsible for inventory control and stock levels in all assigned products; Reviews and
analyzes procurement requirements in the material forecasting system, monitoring inventory levels, reconciling inventory levels with planning schedules, and placing orders to maintain inventory levels; determine excess and obsolete material and make recommendations on disposition of such items, and negotiate with suppliers on consignment inventories.
* Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up on undelivered goods; confer with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
* Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or three to seven years related experience
* Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
* Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
* Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.
* Ability to bring energy to the performance of a task.
* Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.
* Ability to get along well with a variety of personalities and individuals.
* Ability to effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Familiar with ERP (Enterprise
Resource Planning) systems, JD Edwards preferred. Familiarity with demand forecasting tools,
E3 preferred.

Other Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Prior equipment purchasing experience required.
