Project design at the level of overall installation
Member of the Plant Engineering group. Analysis of functionality and transients; sizing of processes for transient operational cases in the turbine installation.
Design of control and operational strategies for steam, condensate and feed water systems for a boiling water reactor installation. Analysis of interlocks and alarm levels. Coordination between analysis group, plant designers, application engineers, I&C as well as vendors and customer regarding the function of the installation and design of control and interlocks in the installation. Performance of design and risk analyses.
Analysis of needs and preparation of a base for modeling and simulation of system dynamics. Close contact with systems engineers, installation builders, component vendors, the customer and other members of the consortium. Conventional process design as well as I&C preparation and development of operations strategies.
Process Calculation Support
Assistance with calculation given to the construction department. Responsibility for the sizing and process design at both the component and the installation level. The person must make himself/herself familiar with the installation function to be able to make correct appraisals of dimensioning load cases, the relevance of process parameters and applicability etc. A certain amount of process modeling, sizing of control valves for the condensate and feed water systems, sizing of relaxation vessels with inlet valves etc. Thermodynamic calculations, heat exchanges etc. Pressure safety calculations, sizing of safety valves with inlet and outlet conduits.
Suitable knowledge/experience
Education and experience within energy and thermal power generation areas centered on process and/or automation. Experience with design of new projects is very valuable. Experience with process design is more important than a background in nuclear power, notwithstanding that a good general understanding of this area is necessary. Practical operational experience of and safety responsibility for process systems is a definite plus.
The position requires that the person is a good technical communicator both orally and in writing, with contacts and correspondents, with a goal of establishing unambiguous specifications and agreements in connection with exchange of data between different parties in the project.
Data: Familiarity with, and preferably a personal package of calculation tools for heat and process technical calculations. EES-thermodynamic equation solver and MS-Excel-applications have been used earlier in this project for these tasks. Dymola and Apros are used for dynamic simulations in the project, but experience with these specific systems is not a requirement. Language: English is the project language, and is common even in internal project meetings because of the many nationalities among the project members.
