Our client is a major international gas company offering a wide range of services and products for the transmission, storage, marketing and use of natural gas. They are currently looking to recruit an Operations Geologist based in Aberdeen.

Operations Geologist

As Operations Geologist your main responsibilities will include:

Establish well specific objectives and formation evaluation programme for Well Planning and AFE compilation, including pore pressure data, wellbore stability and subsurface hazards to be included in the WBOD, Geology and Drilling programmes
Ownership of Well Basis of Design document and Change Proposals during the project
Preparation and timely completion of Geology Operations Programmes for each well during the project
QC/QA of mudlog final EOWR and logs for each well on project
QC/QA of daily subsurface data from rig to include but not limited to
Daily geology report, mudlogger report, mudlog, comp log, MLWD data and logs, wireline log data
Monitor in-house operations to ensure timely response to unplanned events and timely reporting on well operations to all groups involved with the well
Close liaison with Logistics for timely mobilisation of personnel and equipment to fulfil well objectives
Contribute to geological interpretation of logging and well data during each well
Develop alternative operational scenarios for tactical decisions that need to be made during the course of drilling and evaluating any well
Ensure that any change to the evaluation programme is captured in management of change process
Contribute positively to after action reviews and capture lessons learnt to refine processes for future planning and operations cycles, and share with other BU’s
Ensure all Data Acquisition plans are fully understood by the operations teams and incorporated into the wells Detailed Execution plan and master Equipment List
Planning discussions
Preparing pre spud documents
Monitoring personnel and distributing daily data
End of well reports
Lessons learned
Close supervision of wellsite geology function
QC / QA final composite log
Experience of Geosteering

This is a contract position.

Expiry date: 7 Nov 2011
