The Field Supervisor Alternate is responsible for the collection, sampling and recording of samples and submission of the samples to the assay laboratory and assisting with the preparation of drilling sites and environmental rehabilitation of drill sites, geophysical surveys, geochemical surveys, heritage surveys, asset maintenance and asset management at the four Yilgarn One Sites.

The Field Supervisor Alternate is responsible for the collection, sampling and recording of samples and submission of the samples to the assay laboratory and assisting with the preparation of drilling sites and environmental rehabilitation of drill sites, geophysical surveys, geochemical surveys, heritage surveys, asset maintenance and asset management at the four Yilgarn One Sites.
The Field Supervisor Alternate is to assist in the good order of work flow by:
Being able to take directions from the Field Supervisor, and if that
person is absent, allocating work flow to fieldies and being able to
supervise the crew independently;
Being able to control the quality of work, and work output;
Being able to determine shortages in material, and bringing any deficiencies to the Field Supervisor for action;
Being able to report any failure in training or behavior to the Field Supervisor;
Being able to work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment;
Being able to demonstrate maturity; positive mentoring, leadership, and able to provide assistance to the work team;
Being able to understand and implement Barrick policies, procedures and standards;
Being able to demonstrate superior commitment to safe work practices.
Key responsibilities are as follows:-
Maintain a high safety awareness and comply with Barrick’s Safety and Health Policy
Ensure effective communication of work and issues/conditions status takes place with incoming or remaining team member prior to departure from site
Accurate collection and recording of samples
Accurate completion of sampling process and documentation
Submission of samples to laboratory
Transportation and cutting of core
Core shed housekeeping and equipment maintenance
Assist in fieldwork such as pegging holes and carrying out ground works for exploration projects
The successful applicant should have
Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
Senior First Aid certificate desirable
Good understanding of mining and exploration operations
Experience in sample handling (core and chips) and data collection and compilation
Understanding of environmental considerations
Good numeracy skills
Knowledge of filing systems
Basic mechanical skills.
Strong customer service focus and the ability to diagnose problems and potential problems
This is a FIFO mine based position which will involve regular travel between four mine sites during drill programs on a (8:6) roster.
This position offers a competitive salary package in line with qualifications and experience. Standard benefits include 9% superannuation, premium private health cover for the whole family, salary continuance scheme, salary packaging options and 20 days annual leave per year.
