BP Texas City - Our business is the exploration, production, refining, trading and distribution of energy. The Refining & Marketing Segment is responsible for the supply and trading, refining, marketing and transportation of crude oil and petroleum products to wholesale and retail customers. As BP's largest refinery in the world and the third-largest refinery in the US, BP Texas City is capable of processing approximately 460,000 barrels of crude oil each day. Located just south of Houston, the plant includes 29 oil-refining units and four chemical units on a 1,200-acre site. BP Texas City has the capacity to satisfy 3% of the gasoline demand in the U.S. - enough to fully fuel seven cars every second. If you are selected for a position at the Texas City Refinery, your employment will be contingent upon submission to and successful completion of pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process, as well as a post-offer/pre-placement medical screen which includes a drug and alcohol screen. The drug screen requires a hair test for which BP must be able to obtain a sufficient hair sample for analysis (~4 cm/1 ½” scalp, or > 2 cm/¾” body – arms and armpits/legs/chest).

Role synopsis:
The Process Engineer will function as an individual contributor in one or more of the following areas:

Utility and Environmental Systems
Fluidized Cat Cracking
Coking/Resid Destruction
Hydroprocessing/Hydrocracking
Reforming/Aromatics
Crude Distillation
Utilities/Water Chemistry
OMCC/Blending
Relief Systems/PSM
Process Design
Economics and Scheduling
Unit Optimization

The individual may also be accountable for providing business case determinations and process assurance for projects and works completed within their area as well as being responsible for the development/ownership of the unit risk registers and being a champion of process safety for their particular area or technology.

Evaluation of scope, feasibility, economics, and business case alignment of potential system configuration/capability modifications will be key work activities.

Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering

Job Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.

Minimum of 3 years of strong and diverse technical experience in a refining or chemicals manufacturing environment.

Plant technical, operations or maintenance experience.
Experience managing multiple activities/projects.
