Position Description:
The Lead Drilling Engineer is responsible for all aspects of a world class Extended Reach Drilling program from a deepwater Tension Leg Platform. (TLP)
Responsibilities for this role include:
* This includes planning, probabilistic time and cost estimates, casing design, directional planning, cost control, performance monitoring, continuous improvement, RUMS and MOC process, new technology, third party engagement, category management, preparing drilling programs, supporting Drilling & Completions Superintendent during execution, etc.
* This engineer will have a cross functional team leadership position with supervision and Performance Management Plan (PMP) responsibilities for +/- 4 D&C engineers and will act as relief Deepwater Drilling and Completions (D&C) Superintendent.
* This TLP is a remote operation and proper planning is critical to ensure a well thought out engineered design can be executed in the absence of an established support infrastructure for ERD.
Qualifications/Experience:
The following qualifications, skills and experience are required:
* Capable of leading the development of all procedures required to execute world class step out wells from a floating structure.
* Strong mentoring, communication and conflict resolution skills are a must.
* Experience with Category Management, contracting processes, and application of CHESM in a complex, high dollar and challenging supply chain environment.
* Experience in MCP planning and execution in a lead role for the function.
* Bachelors Degree in Engineering
* Minimum of 15 years experience in Drilling Engineering and Operations.
* Extensive directional drilling experience (ERD offshore experience is preferred), platform drilling equipment knowledge and a good subsurface understanding.
* Deepwater (TLP) experience is a plus
* Strong technical drilling expertise in complex ERD wells including casing design, directional well planning, anti-collision, well control, drilling fluids, hole cleaning, hydraulics, solids control, and cementing.
