Responsibilities and tasks

Aker Solutions Asset Integrity Management is looking to expand its integrity team to cope with growing demand for its services both to internal and external clients.

We require Senior Pressure Systems Engineer to act a Aker Solutions functional Technical Authority for topsides pressure containing equipment.  This role covers existing aging onshore and offshore installations in the UK sector of the North Sea.  The work will be based within our Aberdeen office, but travel and regular contact with our Norway offices will also be required.

You are expected to be degree qualified with a professional affiliation and have a minimum of 15 years experience in integrity engineering.

Your core duties will be to provide fitness for purpose evaluations of degraded pressure systems and equipment.  This requires a working knowledge of the technical standards associated with pressure system design, such as BS5500, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3 etc and codes of practice such as API 579.   As part of this you will be expected to assist in developing cost effective life extension solutions.

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the UK legislation in relation to offshore installations (DCR, PFEER, PSR etc) and onshore sites (COMAH, PSSR etc).

Due to the diverse and complex nature of asset integrity management it is essential that you are able to be flexible within an integrated team of specialists.

Responsibilities;

To provide Pressure System Mechanical Integrity support to meet project requirements, performing all technical duties in a highly competent and efficient manner.
Act as the Company Technical Authority for Pressure Systems.

To be aware of and adhere to the Company values and leadership approach.
Technical:
Provide Pressure System Mechanical Integrity Support for offshore and onshore process systems.
Provide Pressure System Integrity Solutions to identified problems.
Recommend Pressure System Mechanical Integrity improvements.
Perform Fitness for Service Assessments in line with standards and approved codes of practice.
Recommend suitable repair methods / options.
Provide technical input for management systems.
Attend meetings as and when required.
Carry out onshore / offshore survey / audits and answer site queries.

Organisational:
Plan Personal workload.
Prepare CTR’s and man-hour estimates via the Aker Solutions Management System where applicable.
Execute technical duties in a competent and professional manner and in accordance with company procedures
Ensure work is completed on Schedule and within budget.
Pan, co-ordinate and execute 3rd Party contractor work activities
Liase with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication and commissioning issues.
Compile Asset Integrity reports where applicable.
Always strive to achieve inherent safety when carrying out engineer and design activities.

Qualifications & personal attributes

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Educated to degree level with appropriate professional qualification preferred
Chartered Engineer preferred
Sound working knowledge of relevant pressure systems industry codes and standards (BS5500, ASME VII, TEMA, API 579, ASME B31.3, BS8010, API 6D)
Knowledge of regulations in relation to pressure systems (DCR, PFEER, PIR, PSSR, COMAH)
Conversant with relevant technical software
Aware of latest technical developments
Current Offshore Survival and Fire Fighting Certificate.
Current Medical Certificate.
Working knowledge of industry recognised Engineering / Analytical programmes
Demonstrable years relevant professional experience
Ability to direct and guide engineers and designers
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Good team working skills
