With interests in more than 20 UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) fields, they are one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the North Sea.
Our client currently has a requirement for a Development Geologist to be based in Aberdeen on a staff basis. This is a key position in a team responsible for managing the clients UK operated portfolio with a variety of reservoirs, fluids and maturity. These fields contribute significantly to UKU achieving its volumes and PBIT targets. This role can have a strong impact on client's bottom line in terms of protecting core business, supporting new business initiatives and developing innovative ideas and solutions.
This position is responsible for analysing and interpreting geological data in conjunction with the work of other technical disciplines, whilst adhering to all Subsurface Policies and Standards, for UK Upstream's operated portfolio. This position will work with the Operated Business Delivery Unit (OBDU) Subsurface Manager and Functional teams within UKU organisation to maximise value to these key fields.
Experience/Skills required:
Requires experience of assignments and projects in different plays and countries, with exposure to three of the following:
- regional and new venture evaluations
- prospect generation and evaluation
- well operations planning and delivery
- field appraisal and development including reservoir characterisation.
- Expert user of geological interpretations systems
- May have experience of working in different geological settings – clastics, carbonates, passive margins, thrust belts etc.
- Has awareness of other subsurface disciplines.
- May have experience of building effective networks with contractors, academia and external R&D bodies.
- Knowledge and skills closely match the Generic Competency Position Profile (which defines the balance between the required technical and behavioural attributes) for a Lead Geologist.
- A degree qualification is required, with a good knowledge of G&G techniques, methods, limitations and latest industry thinking.
