Description:  
Company subject matter expert/specialist in coring, core handling and core analysis (routine and special core analysis) for conventional and unconventional resources in the SubsurfaceTechnology group, supporting COP Exploration and Production world wide.  Directing a small team of lab technicians.   



Responsibilities:  

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
·    Conduct research based testing in-house to meet present and future needs of the business unit.
·    Participate in early planning and application of coring and core analysis in exploration and production projects as part of multi-disciplinary teams. 
·    Develop new technology and improved protocols for coring, core handling and core analysis. 
·    Travel to the field and business units as needed.  Direct fundamental core analysis laboratories and direct technical support. 
·    Manage the growth and development of lab testing capabilities and capacity to support unconventional reservoirs. 
·    Provide technical support and services to the business units on coring, core handling and core analysis including detailed protocol development and training to expand the level of core competency within the business unit and the company as a whole. 
·    Interact with outside laboratories with respect to measurement protocol, work flow, data quality control and knowledge sharing.  Support complete core analysis testing in-house to quality control outside laboratories and to build core experience in resource plays important to COP. 
·    Manage and direct a small team of laboratory technicians to support group goals. Provide instruction to meet company training needs.  
·    Actively participate in maximizing Knowledge Sharing around the company.
·    Actively participate in all safety processes to ensure continuous progress toward zero incidents.  
   
Qualifications

Basic:
·    Legally authorized to work in the United States
·    MS in chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, or physics with a strong experimental / laboratory and data analysis background.
·    10+ years experience, including laboratory aspects of reservoir core analysis
·    Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time
·    Willing and able to relocate
Preferred:
·    PhD preferred in chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, or physics 
·    15 years experience in laboratory aspects of core analysis
·    Good computer skills and a high level of oral and written communication skills are critical 
·    Good interpersonal skills are needed to build relationships within the company
·    Project management and team leadership skills are a plus
