Lead Development Geophysicist

Lead Development Geophysicist

We have been retained to recruit an accomplished and senior development geophysicist to work within a small sub-surface team on probably one of the largest oilfield discoveries this century. (OIP estimate 10bbl +)
The field is a complex fractured carbonate reservoir with a 1000 metre oil column covering 150-200km2 with production in the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic. Our client has acquired 920km2 of proprietary 3D seismic and will be developing a series of implied static reservoir models used in simulation and development planning. You will work closely within a core sub-surface team carrying out detailed seismic interpretation, integrating core, seismic and log data to gain a better understanding of this vast field. You will also advise & contribute to development planning and the full FDP submission scheduled for the end of 2012.

This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic, motivated and well positioned company, who are offering an extraordinarily generous package including substantial options on joining.

Responsibilities

Lead geophysicist with responsibility for 2D and 3D seismic interpretation advising on development planning and input to 3D model building
Liaise closely with key sub-surface members ; Petrophysicist, Reservoir Engineers, and Geologists
Help coordinate and prepare data for internal recommendations and reviews
Mentor and coach more junior personnel within the team and with regard to Geophysical modelling tools and workflows
Ability to generate and interpret seismic attributes with experience, in depth conversion and modelling.
Some knowledge of rock properties and porosity/permeability issues of complex fractured carbonate reservoirs.
Interpretation of VSP surveys as appropriate, used in 2D and 3D velocity model building
